What an AMAZING night it was celebrating Chandon’s American Summer Pool Party with Brittany Snow AND Trina Turk!!

Trina Turk, who is famously synonymous with colorful summer prints and luxuriously feminine pieces, celebrated with an exclusively designed collection, including the cutest dress, inspired by the limited edition bottle. With an expertly executed homage to our patriotic Red, White and Blue and the nautical theme of the night.  Wearing this dress, you’ll be ready to celebrate!

Trina gave me the exclusive scoop on what her favorite makeup look is for the season and what she thought would be the trend setting look to go with the Chandon design inspired dress!

TRINA’S MAKEUP INSPIRATION: LUMINOUS SKIN AND SIMPLE GLOWY MAKEUP

(Become irrisistable with this simple three-step approach to summer beach beauty!)

* Bronze : Wash bronzer across the face for the perfect glow.

Sweep Bobbi Brown’s “Face and Body Bronzing Duo” across your face. With soft strokes start on your forehead and create a “C” curve from the middle of your forehead and sweep down your hairline to just below your cheek bone.Repeat on each side and blend. Next define your jawline with the same “C” curve outlining your jaw and gently blend down your neck. Wha-La! Glowy, fresh, naturally bronzed skin!

* Natural Lip : Create a defined lip with a neutral shade that is one degree darker than your natural lip tone.

 Makeup Forever’s “Aqua Lips” in shades 2C (light), 3C (medium), or 6C (dark). Lightly trace and fill in your lips, then apply your favorite lip balm on top for an ultra moisturizing, lasting look. Another one of my favorites:  Fresh’s “Lip Sugar” in Honey or Plum to deliver a maximum moisture treatment with an spf and subtle tint. 

* Mascara :  Define your eyes with the simplicity of fabulous lashes.

 Maybeline’s “Full n’ Soft”- one of my absolute favorite’s- for an all natural fluffy lash look or try top rated Maybelline “Volum’ Express Mascara The Mega Plush” in Blackest Black, plumps with soft supple volume that is also gentle on your lashes with it’s new gel-mousse formula!

Honestly there’s no better to way sip in style and indulge in opulent spirits. Sweet, tart and saucy, that’s the way I like mine…My Cocktail, that is! Whether sipped in its perfect simplicity or mixed in one of Chandon’s expertly mixed cocktails, you can’t go wrong. My favorite of the night, ….the “Cabana Boy“…Say What!  MMMHMMMMM! Oh yes, with Chandon Riche, St. Germain and fresh Pomegranate Seeds these really made this cocktail my favorite!

Ditch the cracked, peeling, tempting … I want to bite it off, feeling of winter chapped lips.

– Exfoliate your lips with a quick home remedy:  Try a sugar scrub lip buff-mix a tsp of white sugar with a dab of honey, lightly layer on lips and gently rub around alleviating any rough edges then rinse off.  Moisturize and prepare your lips naturally!

ENHANCE:

Outline your lips with a waterproof pencil and fill them in.  This will create a foundation that your lipstick will adhere to lasting through hours of laughter and wooing.

TRY:

– “Makeup Forever’s Aqua Lip”-Waterproof Lip Pencil in a shade closest to your natural lip tone. My favorites for each complexion: Fair: 2C, Medium: 3C  Dark: 6C. Loaded with moisturizing Vitamin E and jojoba wax, lips are sure to stay moisturized and resist fading.  (www.sephora.com)

Lastly, apply your favorite holiday lip color, layering it on top of the liner. Softly dab your finger over your lips helping the pigment settle in for a fresh sultry pout.

Holiday Shopping Blunders

HOLIDAY MAKEUP SHOPPING BLUNDERS

The Holidays are here! Hooray – it’s one of my favorite times of the year.  Anticipation is high with people filled with joy, graciousness and GERMS!!! (HUH?! Cue record skip…)

Ever wander through aisle by aisle of your favorite beauty counters reaching for that SO amazing moisturizing, plumping, lasting, courage granting, diva guaranteeing lipstick that you simply MUST try… and you MUST plant that sweet color on your lips or decadently swirl your fingers around in that sumptuous new concealer perfectly sweeping it under your eyes?    Wait, You have?  NOOOOO!!!!!!

One of the fastest ways to land a bummer of a holiday is to end up with someone else’s nasty germs!  No need to fear,  you can have that amazing holiday look but, with some precautionary shopping tips, learn to really celebrate the holidays with sheer abandon.

WHEN SHOPPING TRY THESE TIPS:

*LIPSTICKS:  can be the worst!  First ask that the lipstick be sprayed down with alcohol, then twist the tube to the top. Take a disposable lip brush at the base, whisk a touch of lipstick to test on your hand, then try matching it in front of your lips.

*EYE SHADOWS:  First allow the cosmetic associates to alcohol the palette, then with a clean makeup brush dust off the first layer of product then try the colors on your hands or if you dare, take a q-tip and dot just between your temple and eye. (Never on the eye when testing!)

*FOUNDATIONS & CREAM BLUSHES:  Pump Bottles are the safest keeping the product in safe harbor while dispensing in a more sanitary way.  However, a quick alcohol rub of the nozzle never hurts prior to jaw line test.

*EYELINERS:  A bit easier than most.  Disinfect with alcohol, have the tip sharpened to a fine point then repeat alcohol rub down. You can test this on your hand as well or dare to try it on your eye. Steer clear of the twist dispenser eyeliners as they can easily be contaminated and should never be used directly on the eye.

*CLICK PEN (concealers, eyes shadows and lips):  Here’s a tip: skip the click!  There’s no way to safely test these handy products. This is a hand test only if you actually want to try it… but beware!!

HERE’S WHAT I FOUND ON MY LATEST VISIT TO MY FAVORITE BEAUTY STORE: 

(Ooey Gooey Lip Gloss, Chunky Monkey Concealer, Pop Goes the Lip Glop) No, these are not the latest names of Ben and Jerry’s newest ice cream flavors.

I ADMIT, AT FIRST GLANCE THIS MAY SEEM LIKE A BIT MUCH, BUT WITH PRACTICE YOUR HEALTHY HABITS WILL KEEP YOU PARTYING LIKE IT’S 1999! (THANK YOU, PRINCE!)

Everyone knows how much of a hygiene stickler I am, so to really err on the side of caution, the only way to truly be a safe tester is to buy the product and try it at home!
